Head of Finance

As a Head of Finance you’ll take active ownership of Appsilon’s financial safety and success. When you join Appsilon you are joining a company that will challenge you, force you to constantly learn, while consistently investing in your professional development.
We’re looking for a Head of Finance because our company is growing and we need a person inside the organization to watch over our finances. We are looking for a person who likes to take responsibility and is not afraid to propose changes.
Whether you’re a Finance or Controlling Manager, a consultant, or an experienced Finance or Pricing Analyst, working at Appsilon will be a challenging next step in your career.

Your Role

As the Head of Finance you will be expected to build a humming machine of finance strategy. You’ll be responsible for Appsilon’s financial safety and success. You’ll actively notice potential issues and improvements, and you’ll alarm the Board if they should know or there are any actions needed.

You’ll be responsible for:


  • Advise the Board and Management Team on all matters relating to financial performance, including business model simulations and evaluation
  • Provide guidance on Appsilon’s financial strategy, including service pricing
  • Evaluate the financial potential and risk of company activities such as investments, loans, and merger and acquisition plans

  • Control all financial and accountancy matters, providing weekly financial reports to the Management Team
  • Manage cash flow to ensure the company always has access to cash or sources of credit
  • Report P&L forecasts
  • Lead budget planning across the departments
  • Make sure the budgets are timely reported and used within agreed limits
    Operations & Optimization:

  • Ensure the customers are accurately billed on time, the invoices are efficiently delivered, and the dues are collected in a timely manner
  • Ensure timely payments to service providers
  • Revise existing and build new financial/administrative processes that improve the way the company manages its financials
  • Design and implement a process for payroll management, and team expense reimbursements
  • Develop and implement policies that ensure efficient financial management within the company
  • Propose and implement initiatives that optimize our spendings
  • Ensure our legal and regulatory documentation is filed, and monitoring internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations

  • Control budget utilization by the budget owners, implement necessary tools and controls to manage or prevent overspends
  • Revise, monitor & support the negotiation of external contracts with clients, vendors and service providers
    Team Management

  • Manage & build Finance & Administration Team
  • Develop the skills of people in your team
  • Hold weekly 1-on-1s with your team members, provide them with feedback and suggest areas of improvement

    What we expect:

    Must haves:

  • Professional English
  • Fluent Polish and understanding of Polish law
  • Experienced in remote work, likes remote-first working culture
  • Deep understanding of & experience in management accounting 
  • Experience in a financial role in a company bigger than Appsilon right now OR a financial advisory/consulting firm
  • Drive towards simplicity in processes and tools they build
  • Ability to identify where we should be and what we need to get there
  • Ability to get urgent things done and focus on organizing and automating stuff so that fewer things are urgent or manual.
    Nice to haves:

  • Experience in multicultural & cross-border working environment
  • Certifications that indicate qualifications
  • Deep understanding of finance and experience with professional service companies 50 people and more
  • Experience in software houses/IT services industry
  • Broad network within the financial/advisory community, able to find people outside of Appsilon who know answers to our questions

    Every few months we start completely new projects and dive into a new industry. One day we might discover the secrets of promotions in retail chains, another day we might analyze satellite images using machine learning. Our projects are not only an opportunity to test our skills in difficult statistical, algorithmic, and technological problems but also an opportunity to learn how many different industries work from the inside.

    In this app, you can explore an AI model that the Appsilon AI team built for the xView2 competition. The model locates buildings and assesses damage sustained after natural disasters.


    This app allows for an interactive exploration of disaster risk and development indicators in Madagascar.
