You will lead 6-8 ambitious software engineers as their manager and technical advisor. You will:
Build a fulfilling work environment for software engineers at Appsilon. Improve our engineering practices and culture.
Ensure successful collaboration with our clients in the projects you’re responsible for (either directly or indirectly)
Advise and help engineers solve challenges they encounter
Make sure they have everything to deliver high quality, and that they really do that
Mentor engineers in working with clients and leading projects
Supervise our work in projects led by engineers from your group
Help your team grow both professionally and personally, in particular by holding regular 1-on-1 meetings with engineers, where you will:
Set expectations, review their performance, and provide regular feedback
Build trusting and understanding relationships with your reports to gather feedback for yourself and the organization
Support and guide engineers’ career growth and personal development
Apply mentoring, coaching, or sponsorship, depending on what a person needs in a given situation.
Participate in hiring and planning
Grow your engineering management skills, share experience, and improve how we manage engineers and projects in the entire company.
Helpful skills and experience
Experience leading an engineering team as an engineering manager or a technical lead.
Strong communication skills
Proficiency in English – you will be managing an international team
Passion for high-quality code and constantly improving engineering practices
Reliability, ability to self-organize. You know when to solve issues on your own, and when to escalate.
Experience in applying mentoring and coaching techniques
Previous experience with hands-on coding (it will dramatically improve the way you communicate, delegate, verify the code, and set expectations to your colleagues)

Your Typical Week at Work
The tools you will see every day will be Slack, Gmail, GitHub, Clickup, and Zoom.
Each week you’ll have 1-1s with your group. You’ll also sync with the VP of Engineering and other engineering managers.
From time to time, you’ll be interviewing new candidates and onboarding new employees.
Software engineers will come to you with their challenges and ask you for advice.
You will be proactive in reviewing statuses of projects, looking into the code and pull requests to act if something should be improved.
Most of your time will not be spent coding, but you should code from time to time, to keep a good understanding of the engineers’ work and spot issues.
